Expedition "The Role of Universities in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Shaping Student Trajectories and Student Success"
The expedition to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) represents a logical continuation of previous research on regional higher education systems, particularly the expeditions "Universities Beyond the Arctic Circle" and "Factors in the Development of Far Eastern Universities." For the Institute of Education, it continues applied research in the region (see the social impact project "Improving the Quality of Education in Schools of the Khangalassky Ulus of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)").
According to educational research, universities (and, in some cases, other educational organizations) are among the key institutions for territorial development. Therefore, the interaction between universities and cities, as well as between universities and regions, is a crucial aspect of this study. Focusing on such interactions will enable a comparative analysis of the educational systems in the regions of Eastern Siberia, characterized by varying climatic, economic, and ethno-cultural specifics.
The expedition will be conducted in a fairly intensive format in late spring to capture the educational process in universities, as well as in secondary and additional educational organizations, which are essential for understanding educational trajectories in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
In addition to direct data collection—interviews and observations—the expedition will include an educational program prior to departure, data processing work afterward, regular evening reflections, and a cultural program during the expedition. The core of the expedition will focus on gathering materials for academic and applied research, as well as developing recommendations for regional development. However, depending on the composition and ideas of the participants, artistic and media projects may also be included in addition to the main program.
