The expedition is a research initiative aimed at uncovering how universities shape the educational trajectories of their students and graduates, as well as how they contribute to the academic success of their learners.

As part of the conference "Educational Ecosystems: A Condition for New Quality of Education and a Resource for Development," an expert symposium titled "Did the Pandemic Deteriorate the Quality of Russian Education?" was held.

HSE University has entered the top 100 universities in the Times Higher Education Rankings for Law and Social Sciences. For the first time, the university is also among the top 150 in the Education ranking and the top 200 in Business & Economics.

How has higher education influenced the evolution of nations since the Second World War—and vice versa? Stanford professor Mitchell Stevens and Institute of Education researcher Ekaterina Shibanova have tried to answer this question in a special issue of the European Journal of Higher Education. They invited renowned historians, political experts, sociologists and economists to develop ‘a consensus on the role of higher education in political and social history after 1945.’ The special issue was created with input from researchers from Canada, Luxembourg, Russia, Germany, France, the UK, and Sweden.

Scholars in various domains of expertise who represent an outstanding cohort of global powerhouses in social and educational R&D met up online last week as part of the inaugural session by the International Observatory for the Transformation of Higher Education, a one-of-a-kind endeavor recently launched by IOE and Politecnico di Milano.

Last week’s session held as part of the World Bank–HSE University joint webinar series, ‘Education under COVID-19: Problems, Solutions, Perspectives, Research’ brought together international experts and participants from various corners of the globe to delve into students’ learning experiences amid challenges and limitations stemming from the COVID emergency.

The ‘digital age’ of education has whirled in like a hurricane. Long-term, systematic strategies for the transition to online learning have been swept away by global challenges, and primarily the COVID-19 pandemic and measures to counter it. IOE research fellow Daria Shcheglova reflects on how some students might have been overlooked in this head-spinning rally to take education online.

The HSE University has climbed three places year-on-year to list 110^th in the newly released QS World University Rankings in ‘Education’ 2020, another all-time high for a Russian university in this subject area.
